50th Annual Citywide Cleanup Week Kickoff
The Lakefront Anchorage

For 50 years, the Anchorage Chamber has helped preserve the cleanliness and beauty of its city through the Citywide Cleanup Week. Thousands of volunteers come together to collect millions of pounds of trash and dispose of it at local dumping and landfill stations. This week-long event is a way for businesses and the Anchorage Chamber to give back to the community and take pride in and ownership of Anchorage.

Cruisin' The Fossil Coastline
Anchorage Museum

This exhibition focuses on their Alaska fossil adventures and the remarkable stories that fossils reveal: the history of life on Earth punctuated by killer asteroids and mass extinctions; the ancient geology of prehistoric Alaska and its giant sea-going reptile, the ichthyosaur; the most beautiful of all fossils named after an Egyptian god (ammonites); the long-vanished polar desert landscape of Alaska’s Mammoth Steppe; the 13-feet-tall Mega Bear of the Pleistocene; the 50 million-year-old “walking whale,” a limbed ancestor to the finned species we know today; and the mystery surrounding the Lipscomb Bone Bed, a mass “grave” of hundreds of duckbill dinosaur bones.

Alaska Heart Run

Join the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association as we celebrate the 40th Annual Alaska Heart Run on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Register to race with us for this milestone event at the UAA Alaska Airlines Center (3550 Providence Drive; Anchorage, AK 99508).
The event is family friendly and features a challenge for everyone. Sign up for a 5K timed or untimed length or a 3K walk! Check-in opens at 7:30 a.m. and the timed runners will take off at 9:30 a.m., with the untimed racers and walkers departing at 10:00 a.m.

Valdez Fly-In and Air Show
Valdez, AK

The 2017 event featured spectacular STOL flying, aerobatics by Scott Sexton and Gary Ward, a demonstration of a WWII era C-46 cargo plane and a world record in the world famous STOL contest. Approximately 200 airplanes and more than 2,500 hundred people descended on Pioneer Field in Valdez for the 14th Valdez Fly-In and Air Show.

Fairbanks Visitor Industry Walk for Charity
Starts at Immaculate Conception Church

Raise money for local charities as you feast on fabulous food on this fun 4k graze through downtown Fairbanks. You choose the local charity from our list of registered charities, who will receive 100% of your registration fees. The Visitor Industry organizes the walk and all money raised through registration fees is donated to local non-profits. * Over the last 15 walks $352,008 has been raised for local charities.
